According to Flayderman the serial number of this revolver (below 35731) puts its manufacture date before May of 1865. Retains 75% original blue most loss is around the trigger and on the cylinder markings still clear action smooth bore with slight oxidation.

SMITH & WESSON MODEL NO. 2 ARMY REVOLVER. .32 rimfire six-shot. Marked 5'' octagonal barrel blued surface rosewood grips. S/n 3448. With letter from Smith & Wesson stating this revolver was shipped from the factory March 24 1862 to the B. Kittredge Co. Cincinnati Ohio. Minimal bluing remains one grip has age split. good mechanics tight hinge clean bore good rifling. There are no Kittredge stamps on the gun. Minor scratches evenly worn. Overall good condition.

ENGRAVED SMITH AND WESSON NO. 2 OLD MODEL REVOLVER. A.k.a. Model No. 2 Army .32 caliber six-shot cylinder 6'' octagonal barrel rosewood grips. Elaborately engraved frame and cylinder. S/n 37113. Accompanied by its original holster. According to an old tag that accompanies this gun it was sold by a Mary Kincaid in 1968 and was according to family tradition carried by her great grandfather a captain in the 1st North Carolina Cavalry. Moderate pitting and corrosion on the frame barrel and cylinder. Holster in poor condition. The back side of the grips bear inscriptions: one is carved with ''1st NC'' and the other has ''M.C. Kincaid 2/55 R.N. 537'' in ink. The frame under the grip is also stamped ''1*NCC''. Its CW war use is not possible as the accompanying factory letter indicates that it shipped from the facotyr on April 15 1865. No Captain Kincaid (or Kincade) could be found in the 1st NC Cavalry however the note does not indicate whether it was her paternal or maternal great grandfather.

SMITH & WESSON MODEL NO. 2 .32 CALIBER REVOLVERIncluded in this lot is a Smith & Wesson Model No. 2 .32 caliber revolver. The revolver displays an octagonal barrel, spur trigger, round cylinder, and walnut grips. The revolver was produced in the 1860's with a serial number of 45005. The Model .2 was in popular demand with the outbreak of the American Civil War, as soldiers from all ranks on both sides of the conflict made private purchases of the revolvers for self-defense. The top of the barrel is marked "Smith & Wesson. Springfield, Mass", with the cylinder marked "Patented April, 3, 1855, July ~ 1809, & Dec 18, 1860". This revolver features a 6" solid rib barrel chambered in .32 caliber. The six shot cylinder displays a patina across the blue finish and some light pitting. The top of the barrel is marked "SMITH & WESSON. SPRINGFIELD. MASS.". The revolver shows fair condition and some light pitting across the barrel and frame. The revolver weights 1lbs 6oz. Serial Number: 45005. This firearm qualifies as an Antique and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.

Retains 40-50% original blue with some light corrosion original finish on the grips smooth action marks slightly worn. Micro crack at top of hinge. Cylinder rotates and locks when cocked also rotates freely when hammer is down.

Brass frame has worn plated and ''2nd Quality'' rosewood grips. S/n 64595. According to Flayderman approximately 4 402 were made. These had defects and were sold at discount prices.

Our consignor (the Hallock family) indicates that all of their guns are in working order but we cannot guarantee their functionality.
